Loon Gangte, ITPC South Asia Coordinator, receives Elizabeth Taylor award at AIDS 2020

ITPC celebrates with Loon Gangte, winner of the Elizabeth Taylor Human Rights Award at the 23rd International AIDS Conference, AIDS 2020, held virtually from July 6 to 10. Loon is co-founder of the Delhi Network of Positive People (DNP+) in New Delhi, India, and he is the coordinator of ITPC South Asia.

“I could not be prouder of Loon, a man with a heart of GOLD,” said Solange Baptiste, Executive Director of ITPC Global.

“Thank you, Loon, for leading the way, doing the work and constantly reminding us what it really means to #TreatPeopleRight,” said Wame Jallow, Director, Global Programs and Advocacy.

The biennial award recognizes the efforts of individuals who have achieved major breakthroughs or shown exceptional courage in their efforts to advocate for human rights in the field of HIV. The award is supported by the International AIDS Society (IAS) and the Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). Previous winners include Martha Tholanah of Zimbabwe (2016), Paul Semugoma of Uganda (2014), and Arash and Kamiar Alaei of Iran (2012).
