At the ITPC CLM Summit, leaders from 18 countries came together to ask: Does community-led monitoring (CLM) hold a key to solving today’s biggest crises? The answer? YES!
Representing community groups, non-profit and donor organisations, private sector entities and academia, summit delegates reflected on the achievements of CLM to date — shaping health policy, generating health budget savings, empowering recipients of care and changing processes, norms and behaviours at health facilities. CLM has shown us what is possible when communities become “architects of change”.
Looking ahead, with CLM we can “flip the script” and challenge long-standing attitudes and unjust systems that continue to hinder sustainable change. By prioritizing the co-creation of solutions and building on the power of community strength and flexibility, CLM brings a new, holistic lens to addressing increasingly multisectoral and complex problems. Together we can go even further, provided we continue to strengthen data quality, document our achievements, disseminate more effectively and push the boundaries of what can be achieved with community data.
