Join us on Thursday, 12th February 2025, 4:00 PM EAT, for our LabCoP ECHO session, developed in partnership with ITPC, where we discuss how communities are protecting HIV diagnostic services in a time of crisis
Community-led monitoring (CLM) is a participatory approach that empowers communities to systematically collect and analyze data that is used to improve health services and address local challenges. ASLM Laboratory Systems Strengthening Community of Practice (LabCoP), in collaboration with ITPC Global, is convening an ECHO session highlighting how community-led monitoring (CLM) is generating critical evidence to protect and improve access to WHO- and nationally recommended HIV diagnostic and laboratory services.
The session will bring together WHO normative guidance and community-generated evidence to examine where policy, funding, and service delivery diverge—and how advocacy can close those gaps. CLM has identified persistent challenges in access to essential services, including HIV testing, early infant diagnosis, CD4 count, viral load monitoring, and routine TB screening, while also offering a clear pathway for action to improve quality, equity, and accountability.
The webinar will also explore the real-time impacts of the January 2025 US PEPFAR stop-work order, broader funding cuts, and the disbandment of USAID on HIV service delivery.
Community partners from Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Sierra Leone will share findings from a CLM pilot that assessed:
· Adherence to WHO and national diagnostic guidelines
· Systemic and operational bottlenecks
· Funding-related disruptions affecting continuity and quality of care
Together, these perspectives will demonstrate how CLM data strengthens advocacy to safeguard the right to health, improve treatment outcomes, and protect lives—especially in times of crisis.
